What 2 Watch 4 – Rams @ Lions

You all may be wondering why I skipped the normal Good, Bad, & Ugly column this week.  Well it was because there was absolutely nothing good, just ugly.  Injuries galore, a 42-6 destruction and 17 consecutive losses.  Well the Lions had 19 consecutive losses.  They also only have 1 win.  In what’s sure to have a full Ford Field, the St. Louis Rams will visit the Detroit Lions in, as Chris Berman would call it, a “Shtupor-Bowl.”

As of right now, Calvin Johnson will not play this week. Talk about a relief for the Rams, as one of the most physically gifted receivers in the league won’t play.  Matthew Stafford will play, but the dropoff from Megatron to Bryant Johnson is fairly big.

The Lions have a terrible, horrible pass defense.  I read a stat that opposing QB’s throw at 70% accuracy against them, which is just bad for a defense.  They play hard, but they don’t play well.  Even the Rams should be able to throw the ball against them (or at least we hope).

Steven Jackson will find the endzone.  I guarantee it.

In my view, the Rams very well could go 1-15.  But this is that 1.  They haven’t had a bye week, they’ve had a bunch of injuries at key positions and by key players, the offensive playcalling is only now coming along and there’s just been a lot of problems, but not a lack of heart.  I think this is where we’ll see the heart of the Rams finally bust through and get a win, and it doesn’t matter against who.  We can all accept the rebuild.  10 years ago, when Peyton Manning was drafted, the Colts were terrible.  Things have definitely progressed since then.  Give the Rams the same leeway – swallow a bad season but savor what’s coming.

I predict a Rams win, 28-17.
